THINKING – Sprint 1
Why do you want to be an entrepreneur?
The reason for this sprint
What your reason is for wanting to be an entrepreneur makes a BIG difference in how to best navigate your entrepreneurial journey.
Knowing and understanding your REAL reason for wanting to be an entrepreneur is tricky because it takes time to reflect – and self-reflection can make people uncomfortable.
Writing down your reasoning for being an entrepreneur helps you focus and refocus on why you are on this journey when times get tough or confusing or when you inevitably ask yourself, “Is this worth it?”.
These reflections are immediately useful because they focus you on your first arduous task, preparing for the journey. Down the road, they help you feel energized in understanding how far you’ve come and how much you have accomplished.
Ultimately, understanding your true motivation for being an entrepreneur is highly correlated with your chances of being successful.
Sprint exercise
To help you reflect, we’ve prepared the article titled “Is entrepreneurship a good idea for you?”
This article helps you understand what to reflect upon and why these reflections are important.
We then ask you to ask yourself 9 simple questions. Write down the answers someplace you can easily remember because you’ll want to refer to them at critical times on your journey.
Who are you?
What is interesting to you?
What are you proud of?
What defines you?
How do you live?
Why do you want to be an entrepreneur?
What would be your fantasy entrepreneurial journey?
Why do you think you could be a successful entrepreneur?
What do you think could prevent you from being a successful entrepreneur?
There are no right or best answers. The more honest you are, the better you will be at assessing how you are progressing, what’s working for you—or not, and how to get back heading in a good direction to complete your journey.
